About DFDC

DFDC, or Deerfield Distance Crew, is not just a team. The DFDC is a community made of runners, and alumni. The Deerfield Distance Crew was started by a small group of athletes that wanted to change the culture of running in Deerfield. Almost a decade later, the culture has grown into the entire distance program at Deerfield High School. But the culture exists elsewhere simultaniously.

Alumni (still DFDC) have proved to be just as determined as the current distance runners. These alumni have brought the traditions with them on their own personal quests. The DFDC community has stretched all the way around the country, and farther. The DFDC ideals have even made their way to fight in Iraq.

There are plenty of acronyms for DFDC, including Desire Family Dedication Champions. The names have changed and will continue to change over time. But the concept of the program will remain in Deerfield as long as the runners continue the tradition.

It doesn't matter how many faces that the letters DFDC are written across. The DFDC will continue as a team, and will always be something more. The DFDC is a community that is more powerful than any individual.

Go DFDC!
